Rev. Terri Steed Pierce is the lead pastor of Joy Metropolitan Community Church—a church created FOR and BY the LGBTQ+ community. JOY has been a beacon of light in the City Beautiful for nearly 40 years. Rev. Terri has served in the capacity as Lead Pastor for almost six years. She’s also served churches in Raleigh, NC: Norfolk VA: Charleston, SC; Houston TX; Omaha NE.
Rev. Terri was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and received her Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Mars Hill University and her Masters of Divinity with Languages from Southeaster Baptist Theological Seminary.
She is a lover of Jesus, a self-professed church nerd, and the wife of Kim Pierce and passionate about justice and equality. The night of June 12, 2016 changed her life forever as it did for most of us here in Orlando, Florida. The Pulse tragedy brought out a newfound passion to ensure that even though hate often tries, love wins. Love always wins.

Megan Currie is our Minister of Virtual Connection. You can likely find her behind the scenes on Joy MCC’s social media accounts keeping us all connected virtually. She is bi-vocational and works remotely for us as she lives in Atlanta, GA with her partner, Roxy, and their feisty dog, Ernest. She graduated from Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology with her Master of Divinity in 2019 where she is now on staff recruiting and working with theology students. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Philosophy from Mars Hill University in Western North Carolina. Megan is passionate about the Church, social justice, and inclusion. She cares deeply about ensuring that every single person feels welcome at the table.

Angela Bates is the Director of Administrative Services at Joy Metropolitan Community Church. Angela works “behind the scenes” on several aspects of the Church day to day functions, playing a part in insuring an open, inviting and accepting environment. Angela served 10 years in the Army in several parts of the world, including Germany where she met her soul mate of 27 years, and now wife of 3 years. Angela loves to spend time at home with her family, which includes her beloved dog, Abbie.
